Object Relational Mapping for SQL Server Professionals

David Thole, Application Developer University of Iowa College of Pharmacy

Do you ever wonder how developers in your company interact with the database server? Long-ish ago, it was standard to use straight up SQL, but now days ORMs (Object Relational Models) have become more and more popular. They aren’t perfect, though. This talk will give an overview of the history of database access, why ORMs are more popular, how changes to a database are scripted, and the positives and negatives (for both DBA and Developer) for the use of ORMs. There will be a small introduction to Entity Framework, as well as workflow discussions.

About David:
David Thole is an application developer at the UI College of Pharmacy. David spends much of his time in the .NET world, coding C# and F# solutions.
